What we collect, and why.

What we collect today

• Request records. Like every website, each page you open reaches our hosting provider with your IP address, browser type, the address requested and the time. We use these to deliver pages, stop abuse (including limiting how many requests one IP address can make to our server), and fix faults.
• Sign-in and sign-up forms. What you type is sent to our server, which replies that accounts are not open yet. We do not store what you type.
• Other forms. The contact, newsletter and community forms do not send anything yet. What you enter stays on your screen.
• Email to us. If you write to support@opentrib.com, we keep your message and address so we can reply.

What stays in your browser

Your cart and preview orders, your reading position, bookmarks and highlights, and your reader settings are saved on your own device so they are there next time. They are never sent to us. The cookies page lists each item and how to clear it.

Who else is involved

• Vercel hosts the site, protects it from attacks and delivers pages from servers around the world. It handles request records on our behalf.
• Sentry receives a report when a page breaks or loads slowly: the error or timing, the page address and your browser type. We strip cookies, form contents and sign-in links before it is sent.
• The Internet Archive hosts the sample audiobook. When you open it, your browser loads the audio directly from archive.org, which sees your IP address and browser details under its own privacy policy.
• Our email provider carries messages you send to support@opentrib.com.

Cover photos come from Unsplash, but our server fetches them, so Unsplash does not see your visit. Fonts are served from our own address.

What we do not do

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no profiles of what you read. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.

How long we keep it

Request records are kept only as long as our hosting provider needs them for security and troubleshooting, then deleted automatically. Support emails are kept while we help you and for a reasonable time afterwards in case you follow up.

Children

The preview collects no profile information from anyone. Before accounts open, we will add the minimum age and any parental consent steps to this page.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act and the EU and UK GDPR, you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and complain to a data protection authority.

When this changes

Accounts, payments and the reading assistant will each change what we collect. We will update this page, with a new date, before any of them goes live.
