How it works

From an idea to the people who want it.

Four steps. The first one takes an afternoon, and you can stop at any point without owing anyone anything.

  1. Start with the idea

Bring a manuscript, a course outline, a set of notes — or the beginnings of one. Nothing needs to be finished to begin.

  2. Publish it properly

Upload once and OpenTrib handles the formats, the storefront and the delivery. Your work keeps your name on it.

  3. Reach the right people

Your work is filed by what someone wants to do, not by category — so it surfaces for the people already looking for it.

  4. Earn and keep going

Set your price, get paid monthly, and see what is working. The people who bought are the community you build next.

What you get

Everything around the work, handled.

So the only part left for you is the part only you can do.

  • Every format, one upload

Books, audiobooks, courses, templates, guides and notes. Publish the same idea in more than one shape without doing the work twice.

  • Know what is working

Reads, sales and where people found you — the few numbers worth acting on, not a wall of charts.

  • A community, not a mailing list

Readers who follow you land somewhere they can talk to you and to each other. Your next idea starts with people already in the room.

  • Your own storefront

A page that looks like you, holds everything you have made, and is yours to send people to.

  • Price it your way

Set your price, run a launch, bundle a set, or give something away. You decide what your work is worth.

  • Keep your rights

You own what you make. Publish elsewhere too, and leave whenever you like — your files and your reader list come with you.

Questions

Before you start.

What does it cost to publish?

Nothing to list and nothing monthly. OpenTrib takes 15% of a sale, and payment processing comes out before that. If you never sell anything, you never pay anything.

Do I keep the rights to my work?

Yes. You own what you make and you can publish it anywhere else at the same time. Nothing here is exclusive, and you can remove your work whenever you want.

What can I publish?

Books, ebooks, audiobooks, courses, templates, guides and notes. If your idea is worth someone's time, there is a shape here for it.

Do I need an audience already?

No. Work is surfaced by what a reader is trying to do rather than by how many followers you have, so a first book can sit beside a tenth one.

When do I get paid?

On the 1st of each month, for everything cleared the month before, once your balance passes $50. You can see what is owed at any time.

Can I bring readers I already have?

Yes, and you can take them with you. Your storefront is a link you can send anywhere, and your reader list is yours to export.

The idea is the hard part.
You have already done it.

Publish your first piece of work today. It costs nothing to find out who has been waiting for it.
