About OpenTrib

People move the world.

OpenTrib is where creators and communities create, connect, and make ideas matter. It starts with books, ebooks and knowledge products — and grows into everything a person needs to build a living from what they know.

What we believe

An idea is worth something the moment it reaches the person who needed it. Everything else — the store, the page, the payment — is plumbing.

The OpenTrib belief

How we decide things.

Four rules we wrote down before building anything. Each one names the easy thing we are choosing not to do — which is what makes a principle worth keeping rather than a slogan.

  • Powerful underneath. Simple on top.

Depth belongs in what the platform can do, not in what you have to learn before it does anything. The complicated parts are our problem to hold.

  • Don't explain the interface.

A page that needs a tour is a page that was designed wrong. We would rather cut a feature than ship one that arrives with instructions.

  • Design from the outcome backward.

We start from what someone wanted when they opened the page — a good read, a first sale, a room full of people who care — and remove whatever sits between them and it.

  • The people who create are the hero.

Not the platform, not the algorithm, not us. Our name should be the least interesting thing on any page a creator publishes.

Who we build for.

Two people, one platform. Both sentences below are what they actually said they wanted — we kept the wording rather than tidying it into something that sounds better on a slide.

  • For readers

“Help me find something worth my time.”

Discovery organised around what you actually want — to read, to listen, to learn — rather than around a product taxonomy. Then the people and the conversation behind it.

  • For creators

“I have something valuable to share. Help me get it to the people who care about it.”

Publish what you make, keep your rights, and build a community around the ideas rather than renting an audience from someone else's feed.

Where we are.

Honestly, rather than impressively. OpenTrib has not launched yet — here is what that means.

  1. The idea

A better place for knowledge products

Ebooks and courses were being sold on platforms built for physical goods or for social feeds. Neither treats an idea as the thing being bought.

  2. Today

Building the marketplace and the communities

The discovery side and the community side, designed together from the start so a book can lead to its creator, and a creator to the room where their readers are.

  3. Next

The rest of the creator economy

Creator tools, monetisation and the business infrastructure underneath it — so making a living from what you know does not require assembling six products yourself.

Come and have a look around.

The marketplace and the communities are open to explore without an account, and they will stay that way.
